THE PRESENTATION// LOOKBOOK

JUST FOR FUN//

The wonders of planet earth..

'After' by Patrick Mimran & Unknown photographer

MUSIC VIDEO// NEW VILLAGER- LIGTHOUSE

This video represents the feel of our trend, playfulness/ludicrous/colour. We have been toying with the idea of doing the presentation in interpretive dance... this is definitely an option.. Ling get your ballet shoes out!

TREND// MOOD BOARD

The presentation is getting closer and the trend is really coming together now. Pin pointing our key words: psychedelic/vibrant/juxta position/erratic/ludicrous/fun/surreal-escapeism

MUSIC// ITAL TEK

DIGITAL ARTIST// LUIS TOLEDO

Luis Toledo, also known as Laprisamata, is an art director and digital artist from Madrid. His wide clientele includes companies such as Warner Music, Heineken, EA Games and others, all impressed by his beautiful digital art.

I love the juxta position of the images he uses to produce the unexpectedly visually pleasing pieces. There seems to be a stung elements of life death and religion in his work, if you looks closely you can see there is an underlying theme to each collage, the small details in the pieces are just as important and thought through as the overall image.

ARTIST// ALBERTO SEVESO - A DUE COLORI

These fantastic images by Alberto Seveso are underwater photography of beautiful vibrant inks intertwining so magesticly. There is so much depth to the images at first glance it could be easily mistaken for billowing fabrics. They are really reminiscent of the marbling we did, there is something really magical about how entrancing watching inks diffuse in to water.

UPCYCLE// SNEAKY PEAK

This is the first glance at our oxfam up cycle, the final Images will be out early next week. We couldn't help showing a glimpse at the fun and games of the photo shoot from today!

PHOTOSHOP// COLLAGE3

I really love this idea as a print for a shirt, i like the contrast with his plain trousers. It would be great if we could find a way of applying a really vivid print like this to one of our oxfam garments, we are currently thinking that spray paint may be an option. Tomorrow we are going to get the garments out and start seeing what we can do with such 'delightful' pieces!

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN// SS 2010

FILM MAKER// ANDREW THOMAS HUANG-SOLIPSIST

Andrew Huang is a commercial and music video director living in Los Angeles with his Solipist fil won the  - Special Jury Prize for Experimental Short  film at the 2012 Slamdance Film Festival.

CHRISTOPHER RAEBURN// CUT&COLLAGE

Here are some collages I did using the up-cycled Christopher Raeburn Fall 2011 collection. We loved the structured silhouettes he used in the collection but thought it could do with a little more colour. Using some of our more vibrant artists I played around with were different patterns and colours could be used in the garments.

PATTERN EXPERIMENTATION// MARBLING

I have been doing a lot of experimentation with marbling trying to find a media to recreate a galaxy type image. Instead of using classic marbling inks, i created my own by mixing cooking oil and drawing inks which gives a much more speckled effect. The final outcomes have been edited and put into a kaleidoscope effect. I think that these prints will work great on fabric in block colour contrasted with a simple colour to exxagerate the vibrant pattern. Definitely a contender for the Oxfam upcyle.

Below is a video of a strange thing that i came across when i was marbling... it may even be the eighth wonder of the world? When I mixed a specific ratio on printer ink with sunflower oil it had an explosive effect when it hits the water and carries on bubbling for a good few minutes after, I seem to have found an chemical retain that creates a massive surge of energy.

NOTTINGHAM CLOCK TOWER// LIGHT DISPLAY

I was walking home the other night and i noticed the colour display on the clock tower on the town hall and felt obliged to make it into a gif for the blog. It was at night so i have drained all the black from it, i like how this has made it look like a really early photography image and the colour display looks juxtaposed and really out of place. My favourite part of this is how if you look closely at the bottom of the  image you can see the people walking across the square like ghosts.

PLANET EARTH ON ACID// STREET STYLE

This is the type of consumer we are aiming at for the trend (Planet Earth on Acid). The age group being from 18-25, they are really fashion conscious with alternative style striving for individuality through strong bold prints, yet maintaining a talored silhouette.

PHOTOSHOP// COLLAGE 2

This collage is a representation of the trend, juxtaposing image pattern and colour. There is a certain erraticism  to it, the couple walking calmly through the chaos represents the tailoring element and the surrounding scene represents our planet earth on acid prints and the world we want to take the consumer into.

VIEDEO// NATURAL WORLD

We love the imagery of this video combined with the serenity of the music encapsulates the extraordinary nonpareil of the natural world. It is imagery like this we want to use and exxagerate and open peoples eyes to the worlds natural verve.

COLLAGES// MARCO MIGANI

We really love the artist Marco Migani, his work links in well with our trend because there is a fun and playfulness use of imagery. The careful placement of what would seem to be random images are used in a thoughtful way to fully take advantage of colour and contrast.

DONT MESS WITH INDIGO// THAT COLOUR IS SOME SERIOUS BUSINESS

We had a lecture and workshop on colour theory, it was pretty mind bending stuff... our favourite quotes of the day being:

"The more you use your yellow colour fuel enery you will have less to give back to others, but be careful people can steal it from you like vampires"
"Colour energy discharges through your hinge joints every 7 seconds" "Blinking lights are bad for your ora""The lungs love green energy" "You reserve energy for the kidneys in the knees"

Perhaps it's not to everyones taste but there were some really interesting ideas.

PHOTOSHOP// COLLAGE

We really want to have a twist on our "PLANET EARTH ON ACID" theme, so we have decided to combine the erratic prints with tailoring to let the print be the main focus of attention yet keeping it sleek and sophisticated.... how we are going to do this with the Oxfam garments is a completely different matter all together!

COLOUR PALETTES

These are our main inspirational images for the trend so far, using these we have developed a colour pallet of a set of very vibrant hues and in contrast to them the more muted colour set for the backgrounds help express the prints.
